Reading the small print

Here at The Mug Store we take the greatest care in making sure our customers are happy with their printed mugs. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for a German furniture shop which has been selling printed mugs with a faint portrait of Adolf Hitler!

The mugs featured a floral print and attractive cursive script, somewhat spoilt by a faint image of a Nazi-era postage stamp displaying a monochrome portrait of Hitler, complete with Swastika logo. The Zurbrüggen furniture chain had ordered 5,000 of the vintage style ceramics mugs, and sold at least 175 when the mistake was noticed, reported the Neue Westfälische Zeitung in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The proprietor blamed the "terrible" mistake on "a stupid chain of unfortunate circumstances". "No one noticed the problem during unpacking," the store owner told the newspaper, adding that every customer who had bought a mug would get a €20 gift voucher.

What’s the moral of the story? Make sure your next order of promotional mugs is bought from a reputable distributor such as The Mugstore to ensure no nasty surprises.
